Low Carb Diet

High protein and low carbohydrate diets can be very effective if you are willing to stick to them. Diet crazes such as the more strict Adkins diet and the less strict south beach diet have helped many people loose weight and keep it off. These low carb diets opporate on the idea that we eat too many refined starches and sugars.

The Adkins and south beach each take you through different phases in the diet. Both detox you for the first phase. The basic idea is to rid yourself of the sugar cravings and get your blood sugar and insulin back to normal. High blood sugar causes nasty cravings and crashes which fuel overeating. Cutting out the carbs in your diet allow for time for this to occur. You start to shift to a heathier state allowing you to break the cycle.

Adkins remains strict as the south beach allows you to bring back healthy carbs. One thing I do like about the south beach diet is there are healthy snacks that are specifically geared to keep you on the south beach diet that are fairly tasty, and still filling at the same time. Both diets offer a number of cookbooks that go along with them which is handy to say the least. Even with these recipes available it is nice to be able to have access to some other recipes also that fit into the basic plans. A nice addition to your recipe books is The Paleo Recipe Book . This offers some different recipes then you may have seen with the other two diets.

These are diets where you cannot do them for a while and stop. The concept behind these books is a life style change. To keep the weight off you need to change the way you eat. With the right recipes this isn’t hard to do, as long as you can find enough to keep you happy and not bored.
